Deputy

|
Reports to and receives assignments, instructions,
and directions from Sergeants, Lieutenants, and Captains. Monitors
vehicular traffic, issues traffic citations, removes dangerous
and unlawful drivers and vehicles from the roadways, and investigates
traffic accidents. Checks facilities and properties for possible
criminal activity, and responds to and investigates reports
of criminal activities, and public and domestic disturbances.
Books individuals into jail, and observes, monitors, and controls
jail inmates. Directs and controls inmates being transported
outside the jail facility. Prepares courtrooms for trial activities,
observes and monitors courtroom proceedings, and monitors and
directs the activity of jury members outside the courtroom.
Prepares and maintains records, logs, and reports of activities,
incidents, and offenses.Also performs other duties and activities
as directed. |

Detention

|
Reports to and receives assignments, instructions,
and direction from Sergeants, Lieutenants, and Captains. Reads
pass-on logs and receives activity briefings from off-going
shift personnel. Observes and monitors jail inmates, and detects
and deters improper or unacceptable behavior. Controls and directs
inmates while out of cell areas during transfers, work assignments,
meals, recreation, etc. Books inmates into Inmate Processing
Center and performs searches of individuals and jail cells to
locate weapons or contraband. Prepares logs, records, and reports
of jail activities, also performs other duties and activities as
directed. |

Communications
|
Operates assigned radio frequencies of the Harris
County Sheriff's Department, receives, processes and disseminates
information. Is assigned general responsibility for basic office
operations, and exercises discretionary authority with frequent
supervision and instructions. Has frequent access to confidential
information. |
IV. MEDICAL more...

Medical

|
Renders general nursing care to patients in accordance with approved nursing techniques, assigned delegated responsibility, and exercises varying levels of professional discretionary authority with frequent supervision and instruction. Has access to confidential information. May function as shift supervisor, who will direct, control and coordinate all clinical activity on an assigned shift in compliance with policies and procedures. Also maintains assignment schedules of medical personnel to include timekeeping functions. Performs physical assessments of patients, updates medical charts, administers medications, assists physicians in examinations, performs basic medical treatments, and screens incoming patients. Instructs and trains personnel in medical procedures, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Maintains work area so it is safe, clean and well stocked, enforces infection control procedures. Evaluates medical care provided to patients. Compiles data and submits reports as required. Complies with all civil service, departmental, bureau and division rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures, and may perform other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary. |

Clerk

Performs general clerical duties by
answering telephones and taking messages. Responsible for
data entry of confidential information. File letters, documents
and other material as directed. Photocopying and Faxing. May
be required to review, validate and process a wide variety of
confidential documents. Maintain manuals and computerized records
and files. Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary.
Reports to a designated supervisor. Types reports and documents for approval and
complies with Civil Service, Department Bureau and Division Rules, Regulations
and Standard Operating Procedures.
