I. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- APPLICANTS MUST BE 18
YEARS OF AGE MINIMUM, NO MAXIMUM AGE LIMIT.
- HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR G.E.D. CERTIFICATE OR AT LEAST 12 SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS WITH A MINIMUM 2.0 GRADE POINT AVERAGE FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY.
- APPLICANTS MUST SHOW
PROOF OF U.S. CITIZENSHIP OR PROVIDE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION
TO ESTABLISH THAT HE/SHE IS LEGALLY ENTITLED TO RESIDE
AND WORK FULL-TIME IN THE U.S.
- VALID TEXAS DRIVER'S
LICENSE.
- MUST PASS A PHYSICAL
EXAMINATION.
- MUST PASS A PSYCHOLOGICAL
EXAMINATION.
- MUST PASS A CLERICAL
SKILLS AND TYPING TEST WITH 25 WORDS PER MINUTE.
- SHOW NO TRACE OF ILLEGAL
DRUG USAGE.
- IF A MILITARY VETERAN,
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE AN HONORABLE DISCHARGE ONLY.
- APPLICANTS MUST HAVE
GOOD CREDIT.
- APPLICANTS WILL BE GIVEN
A POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION.

III. PAY INCREASES

EACH EMPLOYEE
MUST MEET ANNUAL PROFICIENCY AND TRAINING STANDARDS AND
HAVE THE APPROPRIATE TIME IN GRADE IN ORDER TO ADVANCE IN
BASE SALARY. EACH EMPLOYEE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE THE EDUCATION/TRAINING
INCENTIVE PAY, MAY RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING IF QUALIFIED:
- 60 SEMESTER HOURS OF
COLLEGE OR AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE: ($100 PER MONTH)
- BACHELOR'S DEGREE: ($200
PER MONTH)
- MASTERS OR PH.D: ($300
PER MONTH)
- BILINGUAL PAY (AMERICAN
SIGN LANGUAGE, ARABIC, CHINESE, FRENCH, GERMAN, GREEK,
INDIC LANGUAGES, ITALIAN, KOREAN, SPANISH, TAGALOG,
AND VIETNAMESE): ($150 PER MONTH).

- EACH EMPLOYEE IS PROVIDED
BASIC LIFE, MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND VISION INSURANCE COVERAGE
AT NO COST. DEPENDANTS CAN BE ADDED AT AN ADDITIONAL
COST.
- VACATION TIME IS ACCRUED IN ACCORDANCE TO HARRIS COUNTY POLICY.
- SICK LEAVE IS ACCRUED
IN ACCORDANCE WITH HARRIS COUNTY REGULATIONS.
- EACH EMPLOYEE CAN ACCUMULATE
240 HOURS OF COMPENSORY TIME. OVERTIME WILL BE PAID
FOR ANY HOURS WORKED OVER 240 HOURS.
- ALL EMPLOYEES ARE ENROLLED
IN THE HARRIS COUNTY RETIREMENT PLAN (TEXAS COUNTY AND
DISTRICT RETIREMENT SYSTEM). EACH EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTES
7% OF THEIR BASE PAY. RETIREMENT IS ALLOWED UNDER THE
"RULE OF 75" (WHEN THE YEARS OF SERVICE PLUS
YOUR AGE EQUALS 75).
