Renders general nursing care to patients in accordance with approved nursing techniques, assigned delegated responsibility, and exercises varying levels of professional discretionary authority with frequent supervision and instruction. Has access to confidential information.
May function as shift supervisor, who will direct, control and coordinate all clinical activity on an assigned shift in compliance with policies and procedures.
|Also maintains assignment schedules of medical personnel to include timekeeping functions.
Performs physical assessments of patients, updates medical charts, administers medications, assists physicians in examinations, performs basic medical treatments, and screens incoming patients. Instructs and trains personnel in medical procedures, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Maintains work area so it is safe, clean and well stocked, enforces infection control procedures. Evaluates medical care provided to patients. Compiles data and submits reports as required. Complies with all civil service, departmental, bureau and division rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures, and may perform other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary.
